Tequila Sunrise
What a name for a cocktail, where you can picture the meaning. To achieve this sunrise in a glass, layer the ingredients and, remember, no stirring or it won’t look like a sunrise: ice, tequila, oj, grenadine. As you enjoy, thank the 1970s when this drink was part of pop culture with Mick Jagger tasting it at a Rolling Stones kickoff tour, and the Eagles releasing “Tequila Sunrise.” Yes, it went mainstream back then and has been cocktail royalty ever since.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Cazadores tequila
- 4 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 ounce grenadine
- Garnish: orange slice
- Garnish: cherry
Steps
- Add the tequila and then the orange juice to a chilled highball glass filled with ice.
- Top with the grenadine, which will sink to the bottom of the glass, creating a layered effect.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.
