The Piña Colada often receives reproach from cocktail connoisseurs because of its association with places where ingredients may be cheap, of incorrect proportions, mixed in a blender, and placed in oversized glasses, but this beautiful cocktail deserves respect. Fortunately, this recipe favors old school “shaking” to the blender and, most importantly, it includes high quality ingredients. Enjoy this Piña Colada for its beautiful balance of crisp rum, tart fruit, and rich coconut.

  1. Add the rum, cream of coconut and pineapple and lime juices to a shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds.
  2. Strain into a chilled Hurricane glass over pebble ice.
  3. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and pineapple leaf.
